ACOUSTIC VERSION NEWS:  After putting fans first with the social media-driven Find Another Bar Tour: College Edition, multi-Platinum artist Chris Lane delivers another surprise with the release of From Where I’m Sippin’ (Deluxe) (Red Street Records/Voyager Records). Listen to From Where I’m Sippin’ (Deluxe) here. Watch Chris Lane’s performance video for “Mistake (Acoustic)” here. “I’ve always been a big fan of stripped-down versions of songs, and how the track can take on a new life while also giving me a new connection to it,” shares Lane. “I’m excited to add three acoustic versions to the From Where I’m Sippin’ EP, and hope y’all enjoy them.”

Lauded by Billboard as “veering slightly from hip-hop infused, polished pop-country to a sound with a ragged rock edge, while still residing squarely in his musical wheelhouse” with his new music, From Where I’m Sippin’ poured five fresh-Country concoctions – four of which were co-written by the top-shelf hitmaker – produced by Derek Wells with additional production from Michael Lotten. Now serving up three brand-new acoustic versions with the 2023 EP release, Lane adds an intimate element to stripped-down renditions of fan-favorites “Mistake,” “Way to Go Girl,” and current chart-rising single “Find Another Bar” – that’s nearing Top 35 at Country radio. ALBUM & FILM NEWS: Family is deeply important to Charles Wesley Godwin. On his breakthrough album Family Ties, Godwin crafted tuneful tales of his friends, family, and foundation. In many ways, Family Ties is a series of images set to tune, so many of them specifically created for members of his own family. Godwin continues that trajectory with The Family Ties Trilogy, a series of videos that culminates in an ambitious short film. The film follows one family through three decades – building a family during the Great Depression; living through World War II; and finally moving into life in the 1950’s. Chapter One of The Family Ties Trilogy – “Miner Imperfections” – premiered mid June via CMT on the Paramount video billboard in Times Square in New York City. Watch the video here.  Chapter Two – “Another Leaf” – premiered on June 20, and the full Family Ties Trilogy short film – which includes Chapter Three, “Dance in Rain” – premiered on June 26. After releasing Family Ties in the fall of 2023 via Big Loud Records, Godwin and his band the Allegheny High have hit the road hard. In addition to their own headline shows, Godwin and the High have been supporting Luke Combs on his “Growin’ Up and Getting’ Old” stadium tour, as well as playing major festivals across North America.  Tour dates and more about Godwin at his website. #CharlesWGodwin

All proceeds from Country With Heart go directly to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The money was raised during a one-night event during CMA Fest week, all thanks to the generosity of loyal country music fans who bought tickets to the show, bid on auction items and made donations. Supporting sponsorship from Workout Anytime 24/7 and Springer Mountain Farms brought the show back to the intimate Nashville Nightlife Dinner Theatre. Online tickets sold out leading up to the June 8th gathering with a home cooked buffet, silent auction and autographs, all in true “fan fair style.” Bobby Marquez helped kickoff the show with a newly written theme song for the event which had the audience singing along, “We are Country With Heart.”  The stellar lineup of entertainers included Jason Coleman, Charlie McCoy, John Conlee, Donnie Winters, Crystal Gayle, Rex Allen Jr., Wood Newton, Alan Rhody, Barbara Fairchild, Exile and Lee Roy Parnell.

BLUEGRASS TRIBUTE NEWS: CMH Records has announced the release of Pickin’ On The DoorsListen here.  Over 30 years in and 80 albums deep, the Pickin’ On series is one of the most beloved traditions at CMH. Album after album, CMH has taken musical favorites across time and genre and reimagined them in a bluegrass style. Whether it’s film soundtracks, heavy metal bands or indie darlings, Pickin’ On is committed to warm and sincere renditions of the music we love the most. On this album, the series turns its focus to one of the most iconoclastic and strange bands of the 60s.

Formed in 1965 and lasting a short 8 years, The Doors were countercultural figures who were nonetheless responsible for countless major hits and classic tunes. Here, series stalwarts Iron Horse take twelve fan-favorites and reinvent them in an authentic bluegrass style. From “Break On Through” to “Roadhouse Blues,” Iron Horse bring a charming lightness and joy to The Doors’ fieriest tunes. Since 2003, the series has thrived with the inimitable Alabama quartet Iron Horse at the helm. Known for their precise picking, rich harmonies and endlessly creative arrangements, Iron Horse brings delight with their clever twists on these classics.

CHRISTIAN MUSIC NEWS:  Seven-time Grammy-winner TobyMac has debuted his brand new single “Nothin’ Sweeter.”  Now available across all DSPs along with a lyric video, the single is the first release from an upcoming studio project (release date TBD).  “Nothin’ Sweeter” follows TobyMac’s highly-decorated album Life After Death, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Christian Albums chart, produced five number one radio hits and has surpassed 475M Global streams.

“I’ve had some of the most amazing times that one could ever have on this earth, and I’ve also walked through some things that have hit me very hard,” he says about the song. “I don’t think we’re that different from one another in that we all experience some beauty and some things that leave us utterly confused and deeply hurting. I wrote “Nothin’ Sweeter’ because I have been uptown and downtown; I have seen the good of this life and the sorrow by the bitter graveside; and I’ve landed on this: there is nothin’ sweeter in this life than the love of God. It’s what I want to wake up to and what I go to bed to – there’s nothin’ sweeter than His unfailing love.” TobyMac has started hitting the summer festival circuit. Listen/stream “Nothin’ Sweeter” and find tour dates at https://tobymac.com/#/.

COLLABORATION NEWS:  No. 1 hitmakers Phil Vassar and Jeffrey Steele have teamed up for their newest collaboration, “Hillbillies in Hollywood,” available everywhere now. Stream/download here.  With its evocative lyrics and unique chords, the song captures the essence of two musicians reminiscing about their past and the cultural influences that shaped their music. “Don’t let the song title fool you – this isn’t a hillbilly song. It’s crazy we both grew up on different coasts during the same era, yet we have similar musical influences. This song reflects on some of these influences like Queen, the Eagles, and Linda Ronstadt to name a few,” Vassar shared.

“I got with Phil to write one day and we started talking about growing up. I was telling him my crazy 70’s LA stories one after another and he was telling his and about his time spent in LA,” Steele added. He continued, “My ear kept hearing him play that five diminished chord to the six minor chord as we were talking and I instantly blurted out ‘last time I saw you girl, it was hotel california’ over it! From there, we were off and had this cool lyric going with no title and as we were reminiscing Phil said damn, we were just ‘hillbillies in Hollywood.’” Find tour/show info for Phil Vassar here and for Jeffrey Steele here

DUET NEWS:  As he continues his Off The Rails Tour, Brantley Gilbert readies a new album and releases his new single “Over When We’re Sober,” an enticing duet with Ashley Cooke, via The Valory Music Co., available to listen here.  “I loved the song from the minute we wrote it,” shares Gilbert. “When it came time to find a collaborator, my producer Brock Berryhill suggested Ashley. I was so impressed with her writing and her voice. She’d just released a 24-track album – you don’t see many people doing that these days – and I thought that also speaks to her work ethic. It’s a special song, and I’m so thankful that she agreed to join me on it.”

“When Brantley called me about this song, I listened to the demo and it was an immediate ‘yes,’” shares Cooke. “I’ve been a fan for truly so long – in fact, my Christmas present from a college boyfriend one year was a road trip to Atlanta just to see BG’s show. It’s such an honor to get to be on a song with someone I’ve admired for so long. Not to mention, one of the realest, funniest, most talented guys I’ve met on this journey so far. So thankful BG wanted me on this one!” Tour and ticket updates at Gilbert’s website. #BrantleyGilbert

HONKY TONK NEWS:  Country music entertainer and Texas native George Dearborne (Wingate Records) is set to release his next Nashville recording project, Lotta Honky Tonkin’ Left In Me.  Recorded in Nashville (spotlighting musical performances by award-winning, A-list instrumentalists) and produced by Jimmy Ritchey (Jake Owen/Mark Chesnutt/Clay Walker), the 15-song album is available now via all major digital retail and streaming outlets (Amazon/iTunes/Pandora/Spotify/Tidal). Pre-order the new album here.

Aptly-titled, Lotta Honky Tonkin’ Left In Me is quintessential “honky tonk” music. The tune embodies Dearborne’s old-school Texas twang, the simplistic character of life, and the times of the Texas troubadour–in personal perspective, and in music on stage and the dance floor. Carrying the torch for the legendary country music trendsetters in their hay days (Ray Price, Webb Pierce, Hank Locklin, Lefty Frizzell, Faron Young, George Jones, and Hank Williams) and those that walked in their footsteps to revive the sound in the ’90s (Mark Chesnutt/Tracy Byrd), the album is classic to the “George Dearborne” signature boasting shuffles, two-steppers, line-dance tunes, heartbreak and good-timin’, drinkin’ songs written by hit songwriters. Keep up with Dearborne on Facebook and Instagram. #GeorgeDearborne

INSPIRATIONAL MUSIC NEWS:  Singer/songwriter, Gina Powers has released her powerful new self-penned single, “Great Divide.” Listen here. Crafted from the heart alongside Nashville tunesmith, Dave Lenahan, both songwriters felt led to contribute to our wonderful country in bringing this nation together. “’Great Divide’ feels like a song we could all use right now and I couldn’t have found a more perfect co-writer to create ‘our call for unity’ with,” reflects Powers. “Once we completed the song, I contacted John D. Willis to produce it. He also mixed and mastered it. He did a phenomenal job bringing it to life. His artistry is masterful. It was a team effort, no doubt! I am so grateful and can’t wait for everyone to hear this song! May we all find a way across the Great Divide.”

The idea for this song came about as Powers was driving from Fargo to Nashville while feeling homesick and disconnected. During the drive, she noticed a lot of Garrison-sized USA Flags, the huge flags that fly over car lots and businesses. For the first time in a while, her heart felt full and ‘home’ every time she saw the stars and stripes waving in the distance. She made a voice memo with a melody and hook, ‘this whole country’s my home, no matter where I roam…’  More at Gina Powers’ website. #GinaPowersMusic

PRISON MINISTRY NEWS:  Impact Records flagship recording artist, and one of country music’s most exciting newcomers, Tyler Conti, has announced his participation in the 2024 Rock The Yard concert series. Joining his independent record label, in partnership with the Cleveland-based non-profit True Freedom Ministries.  The announcement and formalization of the tour follows the hit songwriter’s inaugural prison concert held in Grafton, Ohio in March, and is significant to his personal focus and commitment to convey messages of hope and inspiration through his music—to make a positive impact. “Music is a connection; music can be spiritual and has a powerful way of moving listeners in heart, body and soul – no matter life’s circumstance,” Conti said. “I feel like the first visit to the prison in Grafton made as much impact on me as it did the inmates. I could feel the energy in the air that the music brought to lift their spirits, and seeing their reactions…feeling that energy…was extremely gratifying. I’m hoping to continue to bring that kind of powerful music to the inmates to offer them good spirit, and a reason to feel uplifted…to feel hopeful. This tour is meaningful for me.” More about Tyler Conti here. https://www.tylercontimusic.com #TylerContiMusic

The success of the shows prompted Kelly to initiate moving the event to a bigger venue and open the submission process up for non-CDX artists to be able to submit for consideration to perform. “Get ready for a musical journey like no other! We’re thrilled to announce our new monthly showcase, where fresh talents and seasoned artists from all genres come together to share their passion, creativity, and soul,” states Kelly. “Join us in celebrating the endless possibilities of sound and the boundless spirit of artistry!” Submit to Play the Jam, become a member of the Jam Fam Club, and Shop for Jam merchandise at this link

SINGLE NEWS:  The weather is heating up and so is the arrival of new singles. Here are some you’ll want to check out…

JOE ELY: Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Joe Ely has shared his new single “Driven to Drive,” the title track from his upcoming album which is out August 2 via Rack ‘Em Records / Thirty Tigers. Capturing the rollicking nature of life out on the road, “Driven to Drive” is an empowering anthem about the freedom of independence, dedicated to those who refuse to stay put in one place. “All my life I’ve been driven to drive, searching for the next thing I might find,” Ely said about the new single. “I chase songs and I catch one of them every once in a while. I first began working on this song around 1986, and finally finished it this year for the album Driven to Drive.”

With twenty-three albums and several million miles under the West Texas native’s belt, Driven to Drive is Ely’s first road album, featuring a collection of songs inspired by his travels of different eras of his illustrious career which spans five decades. The new LP was self-produced by Ely and stitches together recordings over several decades at Spur Studios, his home recording facility outside of Austin. Driven to Drive is the follow-up to Ely’s critically acclaimed 2022 album Flatland Lullaby.More about Joe Ely at his website

NICK HICKMAN: Country artist Nick Hickman has released the second single “Friends,” off his upcoming album to be released later this year. Co-written by Jeff Glasscock and Hickman, this tongue-in-cheek song captures the essence of camaraderie and the freedom to make mistakes during a night out. It highlights the joy and recklessness of friendship, embracing both the fun and the inevitable regrets that come with such nights. “Friends” is available on all digital music platforms here.   The official support video takes the song to new levels with visuals that elaborate on the lyrics of the song. Premiere partners AIM Country TV and Nashville Country TV offered viewers a first watch.

The official video was filmed in Nashville and produced by Jordan Dziekan. Watch the video on Nick’s official artist YouTube Channel.  “The song “Friends” is just a fun summer anthem. We all know that one friend that you have to keep tabs on. That is likely to wind up in jail or in a ditch, I am usually that friend. So, it makes this song relatable to all who listen to it,” said Hickman. Despite working all week and having an empty bank account, the song embraces the camaraderie of friends for a night out, resulting in reckless spending and heavy drinking. BRYAN MARTIN: Platinum-selling breakout artist Bryan Martin has returned with his new single, “Wishbone,” now available for download and stream on all major platforms here via Average Joes Entertainment. The single arrives just as he embarked on ten dates of Morgan Wallen’s One Night At A Time Tour. “As a storyteller, I’ve found that it’s better to express my emotions in words rather than dwell on them,” shares Martin. “In ‘Wishbone,’ I do just that.” Penned collaboratively by Scott Sean White and Terri Jo Box, and helmed by Nick Gibbens as producer, “Wishbone” delves into Bryan’s battle against the ephemeral allure of stardom and the rigors of touring life.

Despite the hurdles, Martin’s indomitable essence perseveres, infusing his music with raw emotion and seeking refuge in the art of narrative. The single marks Martin’s first solo-release in almost a year. Raised in Logansport, Louisiana, Martin began singing in a small church, influenced by hymns and later discovering a passion for country music. Despite initial pursuits in bull riding and odd jobs, Martin faced personal challenges, including drugs and a suicide attempt at 19. Overcoming a near-fatal car accident and sustaining a brain injury, Martin resolved to use his music to address his struggles.  Tour and ticket info and updates here

McBRIDE & THE RIDE: Celebrating their 35th Anniversary, ACM and CMA nominees McBride & The Ride have released their new track “Amarillo Sky” from their upcoming Live EP due out later this fall. “We first recorded ‘Amarillo Sky’ back in 2002 and it quickly became not only a band favorite, but a fan favorite,” shares Terry McBride. “We still enjoy playing it over twenty years later. The first time I heard it, I felt an instant connection. The vivid Texas imagery of that tractor making another round under the Amarillo sky struck a chord with my Lone Star heart, and it still resonates with me today.”  McBride & The Ride are continuing their “Cool To Be Country” tour. RED CLAY STRAYS: The Red Clay Strays’ new song, “Devil In My Ear,” has debuted alongside an official music video. Watch/share here.  Written by guitarist Drew Nix, “Devil In My Ear” explores the profound effects of depression, anxiety and self-doubt. Reflecting on the song, Nix shares, “‘Devil in My Ear’ is a song that came to me during a time when I was trying to figure out why somebody who was dear to me, and many others, would take their own life. Somebody who, even with superb talent, a loving family, and good friends thought their life either wasn’t worth living anymore or they were experiencing a pain so severe internally that they could no longer live with it. This song is dedicated to the people who have had these thoughts and moments where they feel like their life doesn’t matter enough to stick around. Please stick around. Somebody loves you. Those thoughts are lies and things will get better. God bless.”

“Devil In My Ear” is the second song unveiled from The Red Clay Strays’ highly anticipated new album, Made by These Moments, which will be released July 26 on RCA Records (pre-order/pre-save here).  The album was produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell) and recorded at Cobb’s Georgia Mae in Savannah, GA. JD SHELBURNE: Country Trailblazer JD Shelburne has announced the release of the second single “Cars and Trucks,” from his current album Neon Hallelujah. Penned by Jeremy Bussey, Jayce Hein and Jason Duke, the lyrics relate to driving to work while thinking about the person in the car next to you and what they are going through. We have all heard the stories and the lyric in the bridge is so relatable -“We’re all living a million miles a minute, Yeah we’re all in our own little lane, Yeah we might all be a little bit different, But we’re all kinda still the same.” The new single is available on all digital music platforms now here.

“Every person experiences this lyric daily when getting in their car or truck and driving to a destination. It’s one of the reasons I fell in love with this song; it’s real and paints a picture and that’s what makes a song. Every vehicle holds a person or family in that has a story and the second I heard this song I became glued to it and the melody but soon realized we have all lived this. I know people can relate to this and witness it daily,” JD Shelburne shared. Tour dates and more at Shelburne’s website.  #JDShelburne

Available now across all streaming and digital platforms, listen to “Life, Love and War” here.  Co-written by White with Erik Dylan and Andy Sheridan, and co-produced by Jonathan Singleton, the big-picture ballad captures the epiphany of suddenly seeing your place in the world – a homespun message of hope from a proud father to newborn child that draws from White’s deeply personal experience with his son Hawk following his emotional journey with his wife Alex through IVF.

“My wife and I battled infertility for seven years,” White explains. “When I finally became a father, I was overcome with joy, but I also had fear. Was I enough? Would I be gone too much as a musician? Would I be able to catch his fastball with my left hand? Would I be able to father him as well as my amazing father did for me? So I wrote. I wrote him a letter. I wrote him this song. To all the men out there with their heels in the mud doing the best job they can, happy Father’s Day!”  Check out the official music video here.
