“Gathering the materials for this Expanded Anniversary Edition of House Of Love brought a flood of memories back to me,” recalls Grant. “Those days were full of dreams coming true and lots of irons in the fire. A circle of extended family and friends helped us share the load of caring for our young family, planning a big tour and creating music that would be the follow-up to the magical time of Heart In Motion.  We were managing the joyful chaos of life; riding a big wave and hoping not to wipe out.  I love the songs on House Of Love and am excited to release all the music made in that time…the B-sides, all the remixes and the newly re-imagined versions of select songs.”

With multiple formats, House Of Love Expanded Anniversary Edition is available for the first time on (double) vinyl with a signed and numbered insert. It is also accessible as a double CD and digital album with additional remixes, radio versions and a newly re-imagined version of “Helping Hand” by Tommy Sims. Tour dates and more at Amy’s website.

DRAKE WHITE: Country-Soul troubadour Drake White is sharing his third album Low Country High Road— a wildly life-affirming look at the tremendous ups and downs he’s endured in recent years. The most masterful work yet from the Alabama-bred singer/songwriter, Low Country High Road touches on monumental events like his phenomenal recovery from a hemorrhagic stroke and the birth of his son after he and his wife overcame a long battle with infertility. Stream/download Low Country High Road here.

Low Country High Road is a testament to the fact that relationships, persistence, and determination pay off,” says White. “The sonics are a musical trip down the New Orleans, Muscle Shoals, Memphis geographical triangle. The songs are delivered with a uniquely southern, Appalachian-James Brown fire. The record is an offering of ‘Soul Country’ made from the highest highs, and the lowest lows. Music helped my heart keep going when my brain told me to quit, and I hope this collection encourages people to hope, heal and have fun.”

Co-produced by White and Jonathan Singleton (Luke Combs, Chase Rice) and recorded in Mississippi, Low Country High Road delivers 13 songs with an unforgettably powerful impact — all penned by White himself alongside A-list co-writers like Ross Copperman and Randy Montana. #DrakeWhite

ALBUM & VIDEO NEWS

Grammy-nominated trio Midland releases their new Dave Cobb-produced album Barely Blue via Big Machine Records and shares the official video for the album’s title track. A heartbreak anthem that harkens back to the ‘70s sounds of Laurel Canyon, “Barely Blue” kicks off the new LP with a dose of melancholia injected with an undercurrent of hopefulness.

“‘Barely Blue’ is the title track of our new album which really colors the foundation and emotion of this rollicking, melancholic collection of songs with a backbeat and memorable choruses. The song itself is almost like a ‘70s country disco dance track meant to be played loud in the club or at the party,” explains Mark Wystrach

About the new album, Jess Carson adds: “’Barely Blue’ is a destination album. We went East, past Nashville this time to an idyllic island outside of Savannah, Georgia that inspired Johnny Mercer to write ‘Moon River.’ We took a collection of songs we had written over the course of a few years and recorded them live in the studio with Dave Cobb. There was a spirit there that comes through on the album, recording late into the night, taking breaks to sit by a fire around the intercoastal waterway. It is the ‘storybook South’ as Dave calls it, with Spanish moss hanging from Live Oak trees.” Tour updates and more at Midland’s website and on social media. #Midland

SINGLE NEWS:

Kelsea Ballerini

KELSEA BALLERINI: Grammy-nominee, CMA and ACM award winner Kelsea Ballerini continues running her fingers through the small details of her own life to deliver songs and videos that are palpably rich in a sense of both how life evolves and the way opposing ideas can define the same moments in time. Having sold out her PATTERNS release-celebrating Madison Square Garden debut on Oct. 29 in mere minutes, Kelsea offers “Two Things,” a yearning song that explores the ways opposing emotions can create their own gravitational pull.

“I’ve learned it’s in the nuance of real love,” offers the woman nominated for “Female Vocalist” and “Musical Event” at the CMA Awards, “you can’t understand how incredibly angry or hurt someone can make you, while at the same time, the ability to forgive and move towards healing that can be present. And that is a reality that goes both ways, too. You can also make someone so angry or hurt, and they can find forgiveness and desire in the midst of it.”

Filmed by director P. Tracy on location in New York City and somewhere far more bucolic, the clip also balances urban sidewalk cafes, the curb outside the boutique Carlyle hotel, city traffic and the bed in a luxurious suite with giant trees, a back road, small towns and a humble, almost homey feeling bedroom.  Watch here. More at Kelsea’s website. #KelseaBallerini

LUKE COMBS: Multi CMA, ACM and CMT Award-winner Luke Combs has been keeping busy – and continuing to make his unique mark on country music. His nineteenth-consecutive single to top the MediaBase chart, “Ain’t No Love In Oklahoma” is featured on the soundtrack for the new Twisters movie and was released to widespread critical attention. The achievement adds to yet another triumphant year for Combs, who is nominated for three awards at this year’s 58th Annual CMA Awards: Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year (Fathers & Sons).

The first record of its kind, Fathers & Sons was released this past June on Columbia Nashville (stream/purchase here). A collection of 12 poignant tracks, the album was recorded entirely live and features Combs most personal songwriting to date, as he reflects on his own experiences being a dad to his two sons and the unique bond between parents and their children. A Grand Ole Opry member and 11x CMA, 4x ACM, 6x Billboard Music Award-winner, Combs also recently became the first country artist to have three singles certified RIAA Diamond as his songs “Hurricane” and “When It Rains It Pours” joined “Beautiful Crazy” in achieving this milestone. BRYCE LEATHERWOOD: Republic Records / Mercury Nashville recording artist Bryce Leatherwood’s “Hung Up on You” arrived at country radio September 23 as the most-added single, with 45 first week adds. Listen here. On the song’s Sept. 6 release, Leatherwood shared, “Growing up, Country radio is what we listened to at home, so taking this one to the airwaves is a full circle moment for me. All I’ve ever wanted to do is make my family and everyone back home proud, and having them hear my voice on the radio is a dream come true.”

Written by Brandon Lay, Jeff Middleton and Neil Medley, “Hung Up On You” metaphorically compares the intoxicating effects of love with those of alcohol, as Leatherwood delivers an upbeat anthem where the only cure for his swirling thoughts about what comes next is the continued presence of the girl he loves:

Keep the shades down keep the day out / My head can’t take no more pounding / Just keep your arms around me / Stay here ‘til the haze clears / ‘Cause you got what’ll get me through this / Hungover hung up on you

Leatherwood made his Grand Ole Opry debut to a standing ovation on Sept. 14, performing “Hung Up On You” and his unreleased “Shenandoah” as he continues to tease new music to come.  More at bryceleatherwood.com and on socials #BryceLeatherwood

DAVE LENAHAN: Singer/songwriter Dave Lenahan is excited to release his compelling new grassroots country/Americana single, “Absalom,” a true labor of love. It is very personal, crafted from real-life experience, raw emotion, and every word counts. Listen here

The captivating and inspiring song takes listeners back in time on a historical musical journey. It is a true “story-teller” song. The idea came to fruition when Lenahan stumbled upon an old grown-over abandoned cemetery, practically in his own backyard, and was immediately moved. He instantly knew he wanted to do something about it; to honor his newfound acquaintance, Absalom, who was buried there in 1834 alongside his wife. “Absalom” was co-written by Lenahan and Norm McDonald. It was produced by Cedric Israel and the track, simple yet powerful, showcases the incomparable guitars and mandocello by Landon Fishburn, and the  nostalgic sound of the fiddle by Grammy-award-winning musician, Joe Spivey (The Time Jumpers), which is the perfect complement to this traditional song. “Absalom” is now available on all digital and streaming platforms.

“I discovered the Absalom Gleaves Cemetery while walking in my neighborhood in Hermitage, Tennessee,” reflects Lenahan. “It was lost to history and grown over. Absalom was buried there in 1834. I got permission from the family to begin clearing and cleaning it up. This is the story of my adventure and trip down the Absalom rabbit hole.” More at Dave Lenahan’s website. #DaveLenahan

SOPHIA SCOTT: Singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Sophia Scott returns with her brand-new song “Buy A Round” — a scorching-hot anthem about knowing what you want and going right after it. “Buy A Round” arrived as Scott made her Ryman Auditorium debut September 20 supporting Niko Moon.  Stream/download “Buy A Round” here.

“This song is about being shamelessly myself in a new era of life,” says Scott. “I’m single for the first time in 10 years, having fun again, owning my power, and being okay with getting into a little bit of harmless trouble. Life’s too short to be anything but exactly who you are, and right now I want to celebrate this moment of being slightly unhinged. It won’t last forever.”

Co-written by Scott, Mags Duval (Teddy Swims, Alana Springsteen), Luke Niccoli (Gwen Stefani, Keith Urban), and Micah Premnath (Lady A, Ben Platt), Scott turns up the swagger and fully lets loose at the track’s fiery chorus (“Dancing on the table/Horse is out the stable/Reputation ’bout to go south…Casanova coming over wants to know what I’m about/The way I’m feeling now/I might just let him buy a round and find out”).  Scott is also gearing up for her first-ever UK headline show, taking place at Colours Hoxton in London, UK on December 3 with Abbie Mac as support. Find Scott’s full tour schedule here.

TEXAS MUSIC NEWS:

Singer-songwriter Wade Bowen‘s new album, Flyin, is available now. The 12-track record features a curated track listing of diverse songs ranging from old fashioned honky-tonk country to gut-wrenching ballads, classic rock and even a love song to Texas that highlights how his home state shaped who he is today.

Flyin is Bowen’s tenth studio album, and it marks the next phase of his career, stating “I feel like I’m flying into this chapter where I’m the best version of myself that I’ve ever been. Y’all better catch up or you’re getting left behind. I’m on fire!” Flyin has already been highlighted on numerous playlists including those on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Pandora and Tidal.

“Wade Bowen never stopped pouring his heart out in his songs,” noted Rolling Stone. “What’s different about him after 25-plus years of music is the amount of joy in those pours… The most unique track on Flyin, is ‘Friday Night,’ a Chase Bryant-penned song about high school football that features Troy Aikman narrating a faux game-winning touchdown as its intro.” “Friday Night” impacted country radio September 30 and is available now.
