New album set for release September 8

By Preshias Harris

Ashley McBryde brought her band to Analog at Nashville’s Hutton Hotel on August 30 to play her new album in its entirety. The project, titled The Devil I Know, is set for release September 8 via all digital platforms.

The Hutton was packed with friends, family and music industry people at the event hosted by Warner Music Nashville.

In her opening remarks, WMN Co-Chair & Co-President Cris Lacy mentioned just some of Ashley’s notable achievements and recognitions, including two CMA Awards, and two ACM Awards and nominations for six Grammy Awards, and a win for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Never Wanted to Be That Girl,” with Carly Pearce in 2023.

“The New York Times calls her Country’s most down-to-earth songwriter,” said Lacy. “The LA Times [calls her] ‘one of Nashville’s most reliable and sophisticated songwriters’ and Billboard magazine has dubbed her ‘one of Country’s greatest storytellers without ever compromising.’ The Devil I know has already been named one of the most anticipated albums by New York magazine and the LA Times, while ‘Light On In The Kitchen’ landed on Rolling Stones all-genre Best Songs of 2023 so far.”

Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival set for Sept 23 & 24 in Franklin, TN

Two days of outdoor music and entertainment

By Preshias Harris

Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival is gearing up for another two-day event in late September.  The annual Festival returns to The Park at Harlinsdale Farm in Franklin, TN, on September 23 & 24, 2023.

The music alone would be a good enough reason to attend.  However, the event is a celebration of arts and culture featuring dozens of diverse musical acts performing across multiple stages as well as local artisans, chefs and brewers offering food, drinks, shopping and more.

The Lumineers and The Black Crowes will headline the festival on Saturday while Zach Bryan and Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats top the bill on Sunday.

Sneak peek at October ‘Inside Track’ column

Carly Pearce, Ashley McBryde, Dallas Remington, Riley Green, Brett Young, Graciela and more

By Preshias Harris

My column, Inside Track on Music Row, is posted every month at Nashville Music Guide with dozens of news items about the recording artists, songwriters, record labels and the industry ‘movers and shakers’ that are the heart and soul of Music City.

Here is a quick ‘sneak peek’ at just a few of the items you’ll find in the October column.  Meanwhile, you can read the entire September column, complete with audio and video links, here at Nashville Music Guide.

Carly Pearce and Ashley McBryde join voices on cheating song

Two powerful songstresses – Carly Pearce and Ashley McBryde – have combined forces, and the ravaged country tradition of the ‘hard truth cheating song’ is reignited with the brand-new single “Never Wanted To Be That Girl.” Watch the lyric video here.

Written by Pearce, McBryde and co-producer Shane McAnally, the clarity bomb is sung from the perspective of two women – the single girl thanking the guy who helped change her flat tire and the wife at home – discovering the man they’re involved with has someone else. The shattering truth in a text – for McBryde – and the reality of where he’s been when he gets home – for Pearce – finds the two women reeling as they consider their own blind spots in a painfully sobering moment.

MusicRow Awards honor Nashville’s best and brightest

Ashley McBryde, Jimmie Allen, Luke Combs, Tenille Townes among top winners

Hard to believe that the MusicRow Awards have been around for more than three decades. On the evening of Wednesday, June 26, 2019, an invitation-only crowd of enthusiastic music industry folks gathered to recognize the best of the best in Nashville.

Over the years, both MusicRow magazine and the MusicRow Awards have grown in stature and importance to the Nashville music industry.  2019 marked another milestone: The 31st Awards gala was held at Nashville’s historic War Memorial Auditorium for the first time.

Alecia Davis

The gala was co-hosted by MusicRow Publisher/Owner Sherod Robertson and popular TV personality Alecia Davis. Alecia is a ‘go to’ anchor on the red carpet and backstage at the CMA Awards, ACM Awards, the Grammys and many more telecasts.

The MusicRow Awards feel particularly special to those of us close to Nashville’s music scene because they go a little deeper than many other award shows.  This is the one awards ceremony that also honors the studio players and engineers who are literally instrumental in creating the hits.

“In an industry where we all face a mountain of rejection and hear ‘No’ more often than ‘Yes,’ having support from your peers is sometimes the only thing that gets you though the day. It fuels you to keep fighting and keep believing in your talent and purpose.” – Sherod Robertson, MusicRow Publisher/Owner
